Hydrotesting or hydrostatic testing is usually used as a leak-check test done usually by fabricators and manufacturers of various products such as pipes, valves, tanks, boilers, etc. Due to the availability, ease of use and inexpensive nature of water, it is the most widely used hydrotesting fluid. Use of water as a medium presents a challenge for corrosion protection. It is almost impossible and/or not practical to drain and dry the hydrotested materials. The water left behind provides moisture for corrosion process. There is also a danger of flash rust occurring during or soon after the hydrotesting process.
Cortec Corporation has developed various products that would prevent corrosion problems that are associated with hydrotesting process. From products that would protect against the immediate problem of flash rust to products that would protect for extended period of time during shipping and storage, Cortec has a unique Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor.
