It didn't come through the roof, but was brought to us by William Mason of Uncommon Conglomerates Inc. , a St. Paul company.
The meteorite was originally from Nantan, China, and he brought us a slice that was corroding rapidly. The slice weighs about 30 pounds and is about 2 x 1 feet. There were 12 slices made from the original. This was no lightweight!
Cliff Cracauer, Technical Service Engineer, has been cleaning up the surface with VCI-426 and VCI-426 Gel. He neutralized it with VCI-416 and is evaluating a coating for permanent protection.
Cliff reports the surface is very sensitive and begins rusting in less than one hour in ambient conditions.
