NEW PRODUCT RELEASE
Conductive Urethane Coating Gives
Electronic Feed-Back In Harsh Environments
Originally developed as a conductive
coating for railroad rails, Cortec® VpCI®
396 brings hi-tech conductivity to products facing adverse environmental
conditions. The coating is effective in adding conductivity to structural
steel as well as components in membrane type switches and circuits
where environmentally-hardened characteristics are desirable. The
conductive coating can be applied to new components or to existing
parts, such as railroad track, that need to upgrade their ability
to function in harsh environments.
Cortec® VpCI®
396 Conductive Coating provides excellent adhesion to structural
steel, cast iron, galvanized steel and aluminum. It adheres well
to conventional plastic materials and substrates used in rigid and
flexible circuitry. The coating provides the resilience and elasticity
required for thermal expansion and contraction required for environmentally
harsh applications. Highly resistant to abrasion, the coating offers
extreme durability and hardness with a rating of 6H to 8H (Pencil
Hardness).
Cortec® VpCI®
396 has been formulated as an easy-to-use and easy-to-apply coating.
As a ready-to-use, single package coating, no special two-component
mixing is required. It can be applied in the factory or the field
using conventional spray methods. For field application, the coating
can be sprayed or brushed on with a minimum of surface preparation.
The coating can be applied in high humidity (50% relative humidity)
and in damp conditions or at low temperatures (100C
- 500F).
The coating does not require elevated temperatures or baking to
cure. It is an air dry formulation that cures to the touch in 4
hours.
Cortec's patented VpCI®
technology is incorporated into the coating to significantly boost
the corrosion protection of the conductive coating and of all metals
attached to the substrate. This unique vapor phase actions enables
VpCIs to immediately go to all areas vulnerable to oxidation. When
a given area comes under corrosive attack, the VpCIs are self replenishing
to provide long term protection. The Cortec® VpCIs provide
up to 1 year in outdoor environments and 2 years in indoor conditions.
