Super Plasticizer Combines MCI Corrosion
Protection
CorrCreteTM
2007 combines Cortec® patented MCI® corrosion protection
technology with a water-reducing compound. As a super water reducer
that cuts water usage 20% to 30 %, the CorrCreteTM
formulation significantly improves concrete properties for hardening
and plasticity. It increases compressive strength 20% to 40% and
increases flexural strength by 10% to 20%. The product is ideal
to produce flowing concrete where rapid placing is required or in
very congested zones. CorrCreteTM 2007
meets ASTM C-494 Type G high range water reducing admixture requirements.
MCI® CorrCreteTM
2007 can be used for all types of reinforced, precast, prestressed
and post-tensioned concrete structures. When added to the concrete
mix, its unique MCI® properties seek out and form a protective
layer on metals embedded in the concrete. The MCI® layer protects
reinforcing steel, carbon steel, galvanized steel and other metals
from corrosion induced by carbonation, chloride and atmospheric
attack.
Without containing any nitrite-based
compounds, it provides protection to both anodic and cathodic areas.
Because its MCI® protective capability is unaffected by chloride
levels, CorrCreteTM
2007 is especially effective for structures exposed to de-icing
salts and salt water such as bridges, parking decks and ramps, utility
poles, and marine structures such as piers, pilings, pillars and
platforms.
In addition to new concrete structures,
CorrCreteTM
2007 works well for applications in repair and restoration. When
used with repair mortars and grouts, the MCI® migrates to undisturbed
concrete, providing effective corrosion protection to adjacent rebar
already in place.
CorrCreteTM
is an easy to use liquid that mixes readily with concrete in the
plant, during truck transport, or on-site. The product has been
designed as new generation, environmentally friendly formulation
that also promotes safety. Having a nearly neutral pH, it is water-based,
non-flammable, organic and does not contain any nitrite-based compounds.
