How to Choose Your Water Treatment Additive

So, you’ve decided to add a corrosion inhibitor to your water treatment formulation. How do you choose the right one to use? These questions can help guide you through the process.

What is the highest temperature your system will face?
Some chemistries can withstand higher temperatures than others. The S-69 Series offers an excellent selection of corrosion inhibitors for use in chill or hot water systems up to 176 °F (80 °C). M-640 L works well for even higher temperatures up to 302 °F (150 °C). S-15 is an excellent oxygen scavenger and
metal passivator for operating boiler steam systems.

Do you prefer a liquid or a powder?
Some companies are already set up with powder blending equipment and may prefer to select an additive in powder form. Those not equipped for powder blending are typically better off choosing liquid additives.

What kind of tracer do you want?
Molybdate is often used as a tracer, but some regions are regulating it out of use. If this is the case, select a molybdate-free additive version. Other tracer
options, including PTSA, are also available to choose from based on end-user preference.

Does your system include aluminum or copper?
