Take the Summer Plunge Into Corrosion Control for Pool Automation Systems

With temperatures climbing for the summer, kids out of school, and vacation season at its peak in the Northern Hemisphere, now is a great time to take a plunge into the pool. It is also a good time for pool owners and service companies to think about easy steps to avoid corrosion inside pool control panels that keep both indoor and outdoor systems running.

Why Is Corrosion a Concern for Pool Control Panels?
The backyard pool and the indoor waterpark/spa would not function without critical pumps, heaters, chlorinators, and lights supporting the installations. These pool automation systems are often housed in electrical control panels near outdoor pools or in large switchboard rooms where commercial indoor pools are in play. With the proximity of damp air and chlorine and/or exposure to fluctuating outdoor weather conditions, wiring, breakers, PCBs and other metal electrical contacts are at a greater risk of corrosion. Even indoor pool areas are at greater risk than most indoor environments due to the presence of high humidity and chlorine from water treatment chemicals. Self-adhesive VpCI® Emitters are easy to stick inside a control panel with routine replacement every six months to one year, depending on environmental aggressiveness and compartment air-exchange.
