Non-Toxic Boiler Treatment Brings New Green Chemistry To Condensate Lines

In response to new safety requirements and higher performance levels for boiler treatments, Cortec® Research Chemists have developed a non-toxic, biodegradable boiler additive, S-10 F. Further, the new additive has a very low level of acute oral toxicity on mammals and aquatic life. The new additive continues the green technology being developed in Cortec's Eco-friendly products such as Cooling Loop Gators and Boiler Lizards.

S-10 F Boiler Additive was designed especially for use in facilities where safety concerns have limited the concentration of amines allowed in boiler treatment condensate lines and discharge. Based on sodium salt and fatty acid, S-10 F provides a condensate filming corrosion inhibitor that is effective against corrosion caused by carbon dioxide and oxygen. The additive exhibits superior adsorption properties and stability in both acidic and alkaline pH ranges.

The new additive was specially developed for characteristics of thermal stability and stability to hydrolysis. S-10 F out-performs many other filming condensates due to its superior stability. Unlike other filming condensates, its forms a thing protective layer against corrosion without sticky deposits. This special ability means that the use of S-10 F will eliminate a major cause of fouling in condensate lines.

Cortec® S-10 F Boiler Additive is compatible with a majority of products used in boiler and condensate line treatment programs. It can be added to the boiler or to condensate lines as a continuous or batch treatment. Depending on the pH level and oxygen constant, it can be added continuously at 15-30 ppm or in batch treatment at a level up to 500 ppm.

An easy to liquid, Cortec® S-10 F has a nearly neutral pH of 7-8 and is slightly hazy in appearance. It is available in a variety of convenient package sizes from 5 gallon plastic pails up to liquid tote containers.
