Case History Spotlight #487: Protecting Substructures at Al Raha Beach

August 07, 2025

Chs 487 - Cortec Corporation

In 2014, a new development near the sea in Abu Dhabi faced the challenge of high salinity groundwater. The project was large, including four commercial and residential buildings with double basements and 10 floors in addition to ground floors and podiums. Calcium nitrite (CNI) was initially specified, but the low dose and practicality of MCI®-2005 from Cortec® Middle East proved more attractive. MCI®-2005 corrosion inhibiting admixture was therefore approved for use in the project’s substructure as an extra defense against the corrosiveness of high salinity groundwater.
