Case History Spotlight #528: Protecting Flow Meter Components During Shipping

June 20, 2025

Chs 528 - Cortec Corporation

Mild steel and copper components for flow meters were corroding during domestic shipment to an assembly plant (customer) in India before export to Europe. Rust removal was difficult, and it was too expensive and time consuming to do rust prevention at both plants. The customer wanted a dry corrosion solution that could be applied at the vendor’s site. To test this option, the vendor placed components in a VpCI®-126 bag and shipped them to the assembly plant. After the bag was opened for further work, the assembly plant added VpCI®-132 foam to the package and resealed the bag before shipping the package overseas. The components stayed corrosion-free, dry, and ready to use. The vendor and customer were both satisfied with the solution, which saved time and money by using the same bag at both locations.
