Case History Spotlight #597: CorteCros® Warehouse Restoration
August 21, 2025
Located directly on the coast of Split, Croatia, the CorteCros® warehouse is ideally positioned for international distribution of goods, yet it faces constant attack from the corrosive sea air. In 2018, at 40 years of age, the walls were deteriorating, doors were rusting, and coatings were peeling, signaling that it was time for restoration.
As a distribution point for Cortec® products, the CorteCros® facility found it natural to use Cortec® technology for the much needed facelift. MCI®-2060 cleaner/degreaser (diluted) was used to remove dirt and peeling paint. Repair mortar containing MCI®-2006 NS was used to fix damaged areas of the walls where needed. MCI® EcoRainbow® Architectural Coating Gray was used to paint walls and MCI® EcoRainbow® Architectural Coating Green was applied to trim work for a fresh look. Rusty door surfaces were passivated and prepped with CorrVerter®, followed by a topcoat of VpCI®-386 Green when dry.
After treatment with Cortec® products, the structure appeared revived and ready to face additional years of active duty and exposure to its harsh but prime location on an Adriatic seaport.
