Case History Spotlight #637: Saudi Arabia Land Rig Preservation
September 05, 2025
Two land rigs in Saudi Arabia had reached the end of their contracts and needed to be shut down. Thanks to a strategic distribution hub for Cortec® products in Dubai, the client was able to receive trusted corrosion solutions at the rig stacking site on short notice.
A variety of Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors were used to protect piping and major equipment voids. M-640 L was used in cooling systems. Various metal surfaces were coated with VpCI®-368 or VpCI®-369 (rotating equipment). Mud tanks were flushed with a mixture of VpCI®-309 and water, while electrical cabinets were internally protected with VpCI®-111 emitters and externally protected with CorPak® VpCI® Stretch Film.
Immediate availability of preservation materials with a well-established track record played a key role in ensuring client satisfaction with this rig stacking solution.
