CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #596: Stone-Cladding Tile Restoration
November 20, 2025
A retirement center in Israel was less than 10 years old when its stone cladding tiles began cracking, loosening, and falling off due to corrosion damage on cladding hooks and concrete reinforcing metal below the surface. Unstable cladding tiles were removed. MCI®-2020 Gel was injected into the structure and repair mortar containing MCI®-2006 NS was used to fill voids. Tiles were re-anchored or replaced as necessary. No new corrosion damage was found three years later upon visual inspection, and the successfully-completed project was featured at an engineering convention in a presentation on restoring stone structures.
