CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #698: Hydrotesting and Protection of Newly Fabricated Equipment

A large fabricator of reactors, drums, separators, and other vessels for the oil and gas industry needed a better way to protect against corrosion during hydrostatic testing, shipping, and storage. They adopted Cortec® VpCI®-649 BD as a hydrotest additive for boiler and drum equipment. VpCI®-609 was chosen for six-month corrosion protection of all equipment during the delivery/pre-commissioning phase. The project took three months and included onsite training for the customer, who was very satisfied with the solution. The method is fast and easy, and they no longer need to use nitrogen purge!
