Cortec® Earns Sixth Minnesota Safety Council Governor’s Workplace Safety Award
March 24, 2026
Cortec® Corporation (Saint Paul, MN) will be recognized for excellence in workplace safety and health during the 2026 Minnesota Safety and Health Conference on May 5th-6th. Cortec® is amongst 300+ employers to be honored through the awards program, coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council.

“Keeping the people we work and live with safe is a full time job,” said Paul Aasen, CEO of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Congratulations to Cortec® for investing the time and energy to make work and life safer inside their organization and beyond.”
“We continue to look for ways to improve safety and to make sure our employees go home safely to their families,” said Jill Carlson, Human Resources Manager/Safety & Facility Specialist at Cortec®. “Safety isn't just about following rules; it's about looking out for one another and ensuring our culture reflects the value we place on every team member. We are focusing on identifying potential hazards before they become issues and making sure everyone feels empowered to speak up.”
Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national and state statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program. Winners are recognized at five levels.
Cortec® was among 113 winners to receive the Silver Achievement Award, in recognition of their excellence in occupational injury prevention throughout 2025. The Silver Award goes to applicants who were able to achieve an incidence rate better than the 50th percentile of both the state and national average in the last year, an especially significant achievement for chemical manufacturers who must take more precautions than the average workplace. One of the many ways Cortec® promotes a culture of safety is by tracking the number of days that have passed since the last OSHA recordable injury. This number is periodically updated on a sign near the employee entrance as a daily reminder that “on the job safety begins here” and “accidents are avoidable.”
This is the sixth time that Cortec® has won the Governor’s Safety Award since 2019. Cortec® is proud to continue building a strong record in this critical area and looks forward to reaching even higher levels of achievement as it prioritizes employee safety in the manufacturing of quality corrosion solutions for users around the globe.
