Get Those Coating Projects Done Before Cold Weather Hits!
September 15, 2020
Do you know anyone who has summer maintenance coatings projects that have not gotten done yet this year? While we all probably know we shouldn’t wait until the last minute to do painting, somehow it invariably happens for many of us. The good news is that there may still be enough time to squeeze in some critical coatings projects before temperatures drop too low!* Here are some great go-to Cortec® coatings to get started:
CorrVerter® Rust Converter Primer is a great option for easy surface prep on structures or equipment that are rusty. Instead of going to the trouble of sandblasting, which may be difficult or not even feasible in some environments, workers can simply passivate the rust and protect against further corrosion by applying this water-based primer that works with both solvent- and water-based topcoats and offers excellent adhesion.
EcoShield® 386 is a great permanent topcoat for corrosion protection where a water-based coating is needed on structural steel or even right over painted surfaces of heavy equipment stored outside. For the harshest outdoor conditions, VpCI®-384 is a two-component urethane topcoat that rivals other urethanes on the market. Both EcoShield® 386 and VpCI®-384 can be applied as a clear coat or tinted to match most custom colors.
VpCI®-391 is a water-based removable coating that is so unnoticeable, it can sometimes be left right on the structure or equipment to which it was applied. It has been found to be an excellent solution for coating new firetrucks for protection during transport and has also been extensively used on offshore platforms going into layup.
There are many other VpCI® micro-corrosion inhibiting coating options also available for use as primers, topcoats, or temporary removable coatings. Contact us for help to find the right one for your specific need—and be sure to get your order in before the days and nights get too cold!
