Cortec® Corp. Welcomes Croatian Officials to Minnesota and Baranja Plants
November 1, 2023
Cortec® Corporation was honored to host Croatian officials at both its world headquarters and EcoCortec® sites this fall. The two positive economic development interchanges have inspired confidence in Cortec’s entrepreneurial activities and signal a bright future for ongoing collaboration between these Croatian and U.S. entities.
The September 28th visit to Cortec® World Headquarters in Saint Paul, Minnesota, was part of a larger trade mission headed by the prefect of Croatia’s Osijek-Baranja County to encourage economic development and positive relations between Baranja and the U.S. Through multiple stops on the U.S. tour, the Croatian contingent informed investors of the attractive opportunities for development in the region and opened new prospects for mutual academic engagement in the Croatian county where EcoCortec® is located.
Joining Osijek-Baranja prefect Ivan Anušić for a tour of Cortec® World Headquarters were the prefect’s chief of staff, deputy, secretary, and head of education; Croatia’s ambassador to the U.S. and embassy economic advisor; the honorary consul of Croatia in Minnesota; and a representative of the Minnesota Trade Office. The Croatian delegation was duly impressed by the extent of Cortec’s corrosion inhibitor production, which goes above and beyond the main business of plastic extrusion at EcoCortec®, and expressed eagerness to do whatever they can to make it easier for Cortec® to invest in the Osijek-Baranja area. The group also moved closer to making an exchange program for students from the sister cities of Beli Manastir, Croatia, and Cambridge, Minnesota, a reality.
On October 16th, the prefect continued his survey of Cortec® operations by visiting EcoCortec® accompanied by team members and Beli Manastir’s mayor, Tomislav Rob. Both officials held EcoCortec® up as an example of entrepreneurship in the region. Boris Mikšić, founder and CEO of Cortec® Corporation, shared more about his decision to invest in Croatia versus other regions in 2005 and explained EcoCortec’s efforts at implementing the “circular economy” through onsite recycling of used customer products. The prefect praised EcoCortec® for taking care of employees and the environment, the mayor commending EcoCortec® for the difference these good work opportunities will make for the local population.
Cortec®/EcoCortec® is grateful for the time and attention these Croatian officials have invested in understanding and appreciating operations in both countries and sees the interactions as yet another step toward a long and positive relationship between EcoCortec® and the people of Croatia.
