New High Tech Packaging Solution for Corrosion Protection: EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods powered by Nano-VpCI®!
April 26, 2022
Cortec® Corporation’s European plant, EcoCortec®, just launched EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods powered by Nano VpCI®. These high-tech hoods combine world famous, patented VpCI® Technology with antistatic properties. This film incorporates some of the latest developments in the packaging industry with effective corrosion protection. Packaging items in VpCI® 3D Hoods will protect metal parts from all types of corrosion for up to two years. The hoods will provide an environmentally responsible, recyclable packaging option for objects that need quality corrosion protection whether in storage or transport. EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods offer numerous advantages. Cortec’s customers can return their used VpCI® film to the Croatian EcoCortec® plant to be recycled and used for manufacturing of new products. EcoSonic® Hoods will eliminate the degreasing or coating removal traditionally required for corrosion protection and therefore enable time and financial savings. EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods powered by Nano VpCI® are translucent, making it easy to identify parts.

They are non– hazardous and do not contain free amines, phosphates, or halogen-based materials. The hoods will protect metal objects of various sizes depending on the customer’s needs. They contain antistatic properties to immediately reduce or eliminate static buildup as long as the hoods are in use, independent of the presence of humidity. Metal parts packaged in EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods powered by Nano VpCI® receive continuous protection against salt, excessive humidity, condensation, moisture, aggressive industrial atmospheres, and dissimilar metal corrosion. The VpCIs vaporize and then condense onto metal surfaces in the enclosed package. VpCI® molecules will reach every area of the packaged part, protecting its exterior as well as hard-to-reach interior surfaces. EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods are manufactured in EcoCortec’s Croatian plant, making them readily available for shipments to Cortec’s European customers as well as for overseas shipments worldwide.

RECYCLABLE & ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS
EcoSonic® ESD 3D Hoods powered by Nano VpCI® received approval from a leading institute regarding the recycling and disposal of packaging materials containing Cortec® proprietary chemistry. They are typically made with recycled content, further improving the environmental footprint of the product. EcoCortec’s circular packaging solutions incorporate all the principles of the circular economy. The company has been one of the first in Europe to implement a European-wide initiative to collect and recycle used VpCI® films and bags. Within this “Plastic Recycling Project,” EcoCortec’s eligible customers can send their waste material back

to the Croatian plant, where it is then recycled and used to manufacture a new product. EcoCortec® reprocesses VpCI® film scrap and incorporates the “repro” back into the virgin film at up to 20 percent, a level at which the company can ensure the quality of the new product. “Our mission of circling our processes from manufacturing to disposal is now a reality. Our European plant as well as our American plants have launched film reprocessing programs to allow our customers to send their used VpCI® film back to our manufacturing facilities. This way we created a win-win-win situation for customers, the environment and for us as a manufacturer. Our clients do not have to pay large sums of money for disposal anymore, they can send their used VpCI® bags and films back to our plants,” says Boris Miksic, CEO of Cortec® Corporation. This way, he adds, “both customers and manufacturers demonstrate environmental responsibility and reduce their carbon footprint in the process.”
The product conforms to NACE Standard RP 0487-2000, and ESD properties conform to MIL-PRF-81705, IEC 61340-5-1.
