What Are the Advantages of CorroLogic® for Corrosion Protection?
CorroLogic® VpCI® Filler is a two-part system that can be pumped into cased pipeline crossings to form a corrosion inhibiting gel. Unlike wax fillers or coatings that may collapse or delaminate, CorroLogic® VpCI® Filler contains Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors that can migrate into hard-to-reach areas to protect the metal. It can be used in conjunction with cathodic protection (CP), offering backup corrosion inhibition should the carrier pipe and casing touch and create an electrical short.
When Is the Best Time to Apply Cased Pipeline Corrosion Protection?
While CorroLogic® VpCI® Filler can be applied at any stage in a pipeline’s service life (as long as no major holes exist in the casing), it is best to apply it when installing a new cased pipeline crossing system. This is due both to ease of access and the importance of installing corrosion protection from day one. If new pipeline installation is not yet part of the budget, CorroLogic® VpCI® Filler can also be a helpful stopgap to slow down corrosion on aging pipelines and make up for failed wax, coatings, or CP systems.
