CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #243: Protection of Space Launch Pad Electrical Cabinets
May29, 2026
An aerospace company discovered that corrosion had begun on terminal block connection points inside and on exterior stainless steel surfaces outside three electrical control panels near a rocket launch pad. Eight other cabinets had already been protected with Cortec® VpCI®-111 Emitters and showed no internal corrosion after two years. The client was eager to maintain the same protection in all cabinets and therefore installed VpCI®-111 Emitters and sprayed VpCI®-239 inside the three previously unprotected cabinets. Cortec® also offered a recommendation of coating cabinet externals with VpCI®-386, a suggestion the client planned to submit for approval.
