CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #548: Alternative to Sandblasting on Rusty Sunflower Oil Reservoirs

Alternative To Sandblasting - Cortec Corporation The customer needed to remove rust and protect the exteriors of sunflower oil reservoirs. However, mechanical rust removal such as sandblasting and water blasting were restricted in the area. As a result, the customer removed loose rust with a wire brush and pressure washed the surfaces with VpCI^®-414 and water. After cleaning, the customer applied CorrVerter^®Rust Converter Primer before applying a 2K epoxy middle coat followed by a 2K enamel topcoat. The surface prep problem was solved, and the customer was very satisfied with Cortec’s alternative to sandblasting.
