CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History # 591: Storage of Mining Industry Components

October 18, 2023

mining industry components One mining equipment company with a location in Chile found components that were already showing signs of corrosion after one year of storage inside vacuum-sealed packages. The company needed to store the components corrosion-free for one more year and therefore decided to repackage the equipment in VpCI®-126 HP UV Shrink Film with VpCI®-111 Emitters inside the voids.

Weeks later, the company received components from the U.S. that were packaged in the same film. Since the company was already familiar with the material, it was easy for them to repackage the components with VpCI®-126 HP UV Shrink Film after the original packaging had been opened for inspection. In addition to making repackaging easier for the company, the incident also underscored the global nature of Cortec’s supply chain that can provide materials to the same customer in different parts of the world.
