Is Your Plant Ready to Start Organic Waste Diversion?

October 28, 2020

If you are in a state that requires diverting organics and food waste to composting facilities rather than landfills, or if you are on the lookout for a new “green” initiative for your company to implement, we are here to help you take the next step with our line of compostable organic waste collection bags!*

Eco Film® is our basic BPI certified compostable film for disposal in a commercial composting environment. (Eco Film’s noteworthy history goes back almost 10 and 20 years ago: In 2011, it was chosen to implement a food waste diversion program at Cortec’s regional Minnesota Zoo.Even earlier in 2002, it underwent a variety of field and hypothetical tests and was found to meet strength and usability criteria when the San Francisco Bay Area was investigating a better way to collect organic waste from restaurants and food services—long before the state implemented mandatory commercial organics recycling.) For users who want to go one or two steps up in sustainability, Eco Works® is another BPI certified compostable film and bag material that contains either 10% or 30% biopolymer from an annually renewable source.

Industrial facilities that make, ship, and assemble corrosion-prone metal parts have one more option of special note. Eco-Corr Film® is a commercially compostable film (compliant to ASTM D6400) that contains Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors to prevent rust. Were companies to have their suppliers replace traditional VCI plastic with Eco-Corr Film® bags, they could potentially reuse them as organics waste receptacles, helping them to institute an organics recycling program and reduce plastic waste simultaneously!

*Regulations vary from place to place. Be sure to check local requirements and the availability of commercial composting facilities in your area before implementing an organic waste program.
