Cortec® Friends and Family Reunite at World Sales Meeting 2022!

At long last, we were pleased to host our first World Sales Meeting (WSM) since October 2019! It was a pleasure to have 63 guests representing 17 different countries join us once again at the Saint Paul Hotel, near Cortec® World Headquarters. This year marks the 45th anniversary of Cortec®, making our reunion extra special. Despite lower attendance due to the lingering effects of the pandemic, the 2022 Cortec® World Sales Meeting proved to be an excellent venue to foster education, networking, and inspiration—with a bit of fun added in!
The two-and-a-half-day event kicked off with an international meeting Wednesday afternoon, June 15th, followed by an evening welcome reception. The next morning opened with breakfast, a welcome address, attendee introductions, and industry updates interspersed with a mini movie sequel to “Corrosion Impossible” starring Cortec® employees. Then came the long-awaited industry and global sales awards presentations honoring outstanding partners in our network. This celebration of achievement was followed by an elegant luncheon served across the street at the Historic Landmark Center.
Back at the hotel, the afternoon session began with case histories. It took a new turn from the normal as we opened a panel discussion between three industry experts: Lucas Kerley (Technical Advisor at Shell), Behzad Bavarian (Professor at California State University, Northridge), and Matthew Sherman (PE, Principal at Simpson, Gumpertz, and Heger, Inc.). Each was able to weigh in on important industry concerns—especially the need for more understanding of corrosion inhibiting technologies, more engineers, and better communication between civil and corrosion engineers. The panel discussion made it clear that there is a world of opportunity for continued growth in the sphere of corrosion control.
The day ended with fun and food not far away at the Minnesota Science Museum, where guests enjoyed browsing hands-on exhibits and took time for a group photo in front of the T-Rex before heading up the musical stairs to dinner, a toast, and beautiful views of the Mississippi River.
Friday found Cortec® Friends and Family back at the hotel for a day packed with informative seminars interspersed with refreshments and more networking. A highlight of this year was an entire track (and more) of case histories from around the world. These real-life applications were an exercise in Cortec® knowledge-sharing at its best, chock-full of educational and inspiring ideas for distributors and Cortec® employees alike. Other training highlights included a full-day track on MCI® Technology and multiple water treatment sessions. The action-packed week finished with a riverboat cruise and dinner on the St. Croix River (just outside historic downtown Stillwater) before heading our separate ways.
We want to give a special thanks to those of you who made the extra effort to come from near or far to make this gathering both a pleasure and a success with lasting effects now and into the future! We are thankful to have you as part of the Cortec® Family!
