Cortec® Goes for the Rust at Paris EUROCORR 2024

While many athletes were “going for the gold” this year in Paris, Cortec® was going after the rust at EUROCORR 2024, September 1st-5th in the same city. A near-record attendance of 1200 participants from 53 countries at the Palais des Congrès de Paris made this year’s European Corrosion Conference an excellent place to increase awareness of the corrosion solutions needed across society today.
As part of the technical agenda, the Cortec® European team made a significant contribution to the conference with the presentation of four papers:
• Sustainability in Corrosion Control: Bio-Based Acrylic VCI Coating vs. Traditional Inhibitors (written in conjunction with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture/University of Zagreb)
• Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibiting Biodegradable And Compostable
Packaging For The Electronic Industry
• A new generation of Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibiting (VpCI®) films with recycled content
• SACI Utilization in the Reconstruction of a World-Class Sporting Heritage and Football Stadium (written in conjunction with Quimilock, Spain)
Back at the booth, Cortec® staff stayed busy explaining VpCI® technology and answering questions on biobased coatings, preservation solutions for boilers and drilling equipment, and other specific corrosion concerns. While most booth visitors represented the European demographic of students and automotive, water treatment, and oil and gas companies, representatives of the Middle East oil and gas industry also stopped by, giving Cortec® the chance to raise awareness of solutions beyond the European continent.
Although there were no gold medals to win, we applaud the efforts of those who shared insights on preserving metals that are not as noble as gold but are nonetheless invaluable to the everyday workings of society. Keep “going for the rust” until we meet again next year!
