Cortec® Middle East General Manager Elected to AMPP Board of Directors!

Ampp 2 - Cortec Corporation Cortec® Corporation is pleased to announce that Khalil Abed, General Manager of the Cortec® Middle East regional office, has been elected to serve on the AMPP (Association for Materials Protection and Performance) Board of Directors for 2023-2025. Abed holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and has accumulated a wealth of firsthand corrosion engineering knowledge in the field, particularly within the oil and gas industry.

Since becoming a member of the legacy NACE International organization more than 10 years ago, Abed has contributed many technical papers and chaired/co-chaired a variety of technical committees for this prestigious organization of corrosion engineers. He has been a regular attendee at local, regional, and international conferences for NACE (merged with SSPC to become AMPP in 2021), including NACE’s leadership training program in 2019, which introduced him to the non-profit’s organizational structure and how to effectively participate in a leadership role.

Abed is determined to support and further AMPP’s mission of “Advancing materials performance to protect society, assets, and the environment.” His deep-set belief that AMPP’s body of knowledge is its most valuable asset leads him to envision supporting and strengthening an organizational framework that builds the knowledge base and streamlines its dissemination to AMPP members and society as a whole. One way he hopes to do so is by promoting a modular framework to promote greater consistency among all aspects of AMPP-education, standards, publications, exhibits, etc.—using the latest tools and technologies. In so doing, he wants to “position AMPP as the leading professional platform for materials and corrosion related knowledge, business, software, technology and creative skills.”

With his solid corrosion engineering and organizational skills, Abed is on track to add an excellent dimension to the global non-profit authority on corrosion control and materials protection. Join us in congratulating Abed on this exciting step forward for corrosion control!
