EcoCortec’s Team Surprised School Children with Christmas Gifts and Educated Them on Importance of Sorting Waste and Recycling

January 8, 2024

Ecocortec Recycling - Cortec Corporation Members of the EcoCortec® team recently paid a visit to an elementary school in Beli Manastir, where our plant is located. During this visit, they distributed Christmas gifts to the children and conducted an educational session focusing on the significance of waste sorting and recycling. Plastic waste is ongoing problem not only in Croatia but also throughout the world. Educating children about this matter and raising awareness about safeguarding our environment is immensely
important. Learning about proper waste management from a young age is fundamental element for a sustainable and healthier future, not just for local communities, but for our entire planet. Therefore, it is important to encourage proper habits in children with real life examples and interesting content, which they will later practice in their environment. After the joyous unwrapping of gifts, our General Manager, Dijana Zrinski, demonstrated the correct methods of waste disposal. She displayed the appropriate containers for organic waste, like fruits, and showed where newspapers, glass, and plastic should be placed. This interactive approach helped children to understand what is the difference between brown, yellow, blue and green containers. Through examples she explained what is “circular economy” and how by recycling a used bag, we can produce completely new, environmentally friendly product.

"EcoCortec® is environmentally and socially responsible company and we always emphasize the importance of educating people on this topic, especially children, who are our future. Our region of Baranja is famous for green landscapes and fields and we want to do everything in our power to preserve that for our children and their grandchildren. As one of the most successful producers in Baranja, we have a responsibility towards the environment and the people in our local community, and we take this very seriously. With this short education, we tried to highlight importance of this topic and encourage children to develop consciousness. We hope that they found it interesting and we will be very happy to do it again in the future", said Dijana. The children had many questions and were happy to learn more about preserving our nature and communities. "It was a real pleasure to spend this time with the children, and I hope that some of them will become our employees when they grow up," she concluded.
