If you want to learn more about ASTs (aboveground storage tanks) or help others with tank management solutions, a conference hosted by the National Institute for Storage Tank Management (NISTM) is the place to be! That’s why December 11th-12th found Eric Uutala surrounded by AST stakeholders at NISTM’s 17th Annual National AST Conference & Trade Show in The Woodlands, Texas.

As Cortec’s Technical Sales and Product Manager – Asset Preservation and CorroLogic®, Eric was ready to explain CorroLogic® solutions for ASTs to the many engineers, operations managers, and equipment experts who stopped by Cortec’s booth to chat about corrosion concerns. A special highlight of the show was having longtime colleague Larry Mudd from CGS join Eric at the booth for a couple of hours to chat and field attendee questions.

Eric noticed that even though the Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor technology underlying CorroLogic® for AST bottom protection is becoming widely accepted around the world and has been codified in industry standards, many players are still relying solely on cathodic protection (CP) and need to learn more about the clear benefits of CorroLogic®, alone or in conjunction with CP. In addition to familiarizing the industry with this important technological advance, Eric also took time to boost his own industry knowledge by attending presentations on specification updates and a meeting on tank design and inspection.

Eric came away from the show convinced that alternative tank protection methods like CorroLogic® are indeed gaining momentum as viable alternatives or complements to traditional methods of AST protection against soil side corrosion. Join us in this important trend to raise market awareness and implement commonsense solutions as we follow the CorroLogic®!
