Simple Tips for Outdoor Boat Trailer Storage

October 21, 2022

Outdoor boat trailer storage is a very common practice. Boat trailers are bulky and not used every day. Consequently, they sit exposed to the elements for long periods of time, allowing corrosion to start unnoticed.

Using CorShield® VpCI®-369 aerosol long-term corrosion inhibiting spray is an excellent way to protect trailer components. It can provide corrosion protection in a wide variety of spots on the trailer including hardware and other areas not exposed to direct driving rain. Additionally, it provides long-lasting lubrication on areas such as hinges and wheels.

When winter sets in, it is time to bring the trailer indoors. If facilities are lacking, an outdoor storage alternative is necessary. When this is the case, shrinkwrapping the entire boat and trailer in MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film provides added protection. The film provides a tough barrier against wind and snow. It also contains Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors that form an active corrosion inhibiting molecular layer on bare metal surfaces of the boat. When spring comes, the MilCorr® can be removed, and the boat trailer can be put back into use as normal!

Whether your boat trailer will be sitting out in mild weather for the next few months or just going into winter storage, don’t overlook these two simple tools to help keep boat trailers in better condition longer. Contact Cortec® for more tips: https://www.cortecvci.com/
