Put the Brakes on Auto Part Corrosion with CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper
April 28, 2021
Auto part manufacturing is a multibillion-dollar industry that is an integral part of our society, however much the average person thinks about it or not. With countless millions or billions of parts in production or transit across the globe, it is a vast market that stands to benefit from a corrosion solution as simple as CorShield® VpCI®- 146 Paper.
It is already not uncommon for an auto repair mechanic to open up new parts and find them wrapped in a piece of VpCI® Paper that has protected them in transit from potentially corrosive variables such as fluctuating temperatures and humidity. In fact, CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper is an easy and effective method of protection for both the manufacturer and the end user.
By inserting a piece of CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper between layers of parts in-process in a bin on the production floor or wrapping it around individual brakes, bearings, or spindles about to be shipped out to the customer, auto manufacturers provide a molecular layer of protection for the metal surfaces inside the package. There is often no need to apply an additional greasy rust preventative that would require extra time and effort for the end user to clean off. The part can simply be clean and ready to use immediately upon removal from the package.
CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper is also a great option for massproduced auto parts because it can be paired with equipment to automatically unroll and cut the paper, stacking it between layers of brakes or other automotive components being loaded onto a pallet and finally wrapped in Cor-Pak® VpCI® Stretch Film, for example, for a complete dry corrosion preventative package.
