CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #749: Prevention of New Firetube Boiler Corrosion
June 23, 2021
Every month, a leading manufacturer of Scotch Marine Firetube boilers typically ships one or two boilers overseas or to customers that cannot immediately install the boilers. For more than a decade, the manufacturer has been relying on the Boiler Lizard® to protect against the heightened risk of internal boiler corrosion during this interim period. They use an estimated average of 10-12 Boiler Lizards per month, placing the water-soluble pouches in the boiler watersides and slitting them open to release Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors. The manufacturer has never received any customer complaints about boiler rust while using the Boiler Lizard®. Even better, this boiler rust inhibitor does not need to be removed before boiler startup because it simply dissolves in the water, making this method for prevention of boiler corrosion extremely convenient for the end user.
