CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #638: Corrosion Protection of Railway Electrical Piers
February 12, 2025
A railway in southeastern Europe needed to remove rust and protect 200 electrical piers. Instead of using sandblasting or other conventional methods of surface prep, workers removed loose rust with a wire brush and applied CorrVerter® Rust Converter Primer to passivate the remaining rusty surfaces. They topped this with two coats of VpCI®-396 Aluminum for ongoing protection. The customer was very satisfied with the coating system as an economical solution to the problem and looked forward to ongoing protection.
