CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #336: Water-Based Coatings for State-of-the-Art Facility
October 07, 2026
A new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Europe needed a cost-effective, easy-to-apply, environmentally responsible coatings system for multiple features. A variety of Cortec® water-based coatings, custom-matched and color-coded to identify different sections and hazards, were selected for the job. Prior to coating each item, VpCI®-414 Cleaner/Degreaser (dilution) was used to clean silos, light poles, and flooring. VpCI® -386 Green was used on outdoor silos. Light poles were treated with VpCI® -373 primer for better adhesion before applying VpCI® -386 Green. The concrete floor was primed with MCI®- 2026 Concrete Primer followed by MCI® -2026 Floor Coating. Extrusion equipment was custom coated with Cortec® water-based coating technology at the manufacturing site prior to shipment. In this way, the plant owner was able to provide corrosion protection in a cost-effective way with ease-of-application and greater environmental responsibility than using solvent-based systems.
