CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #746: Enhancing Service Life of Pelješac Bridge
May 29, 2024
The Pelješac Bridge is an important link between two parts of Croatia separated by Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bridge is located in a seawater environment, so the engineer chose to use AC coatings, cathodic protection, stainless steel reinforcement, a thick concrete cover, and MCI®-2018 to help achieve the bridge’s 130-year design life. MCI®-2018 was applied by spray to the entire substructure to decrease the ingress of corrosives via the silane component and inhibit corrosion via the penetrating MCI® component.
