CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #445: Reclaiming Rusted Gas Tubes
April 01, 2026
A client needed to reclaim seven gas tubes that had corroded by the end of their transport from the US to the UK. Workers proceeded to soak the tubes in VpCI®-422, followed by a solution of VpCI®-416 for cleaning/degreasing. They then removed debris and inspected and measured the tubes. Two of the seven were so severely corroded that they required rehoning before preservation. The other five were treated internally with a solution of VpCI®-377 for continued rust prevention until installation and use. The ability to restore five of the seven tubes saved the client millions of US dollars, turning the project into a significant cost-saving measure.
