CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History # 702: Vukovar Water Tower Restoration and Preservation

May 14, 2026

Ch Spotlight 702 Web - Cortec Corporation The Vukovar water tower is a symbol of Croatian independence that still stands after being hit more than 600 times during the Homeland War of 1991. Over time, corrosion on exposed metal reinforcement in damaged portions, as well as internal reinforcement, began to threaten the stability of the water tower. Preservation was needed to ensure that this historical monument would last for future generations. Restoration work included the use of MCI® CorrVerter® on corroded reinforcement, MCI®-2020 V/O Powder (mixed with water) on undamaged concrete surfaces, and MCI®-2006 powder admixture in repair mortars. MCI® EcoRainbow Architectural Coating was applied as a final protective layer over brick and concrete surfaces to protect them from atmospheric exposure and prolong the service life of the repair work.
