CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #175: Extending Plow/Salt Truck Service Life
June 5, 2026

Corrosion started to attack the plow/salt truck of a small township in Minnesota within just
one year of purchase. Naturally, the township wanted to extend the vehicle’s service life and
therefore applied various corrosion prevention solutions. The first step was to clean the vehicle
with VpCI®-415. VpCI®-105 Emitters were applied near electricals under the dashboard, and
external electrical contacts were protected with ElectriCorr™ VpCI®-239. Several coatings were
also applied, including CorrVerter® for rusty surfaces, VpCI®-368 D for the undercarriage,
VpCI®-396 for the box, and VpCI®-369 for moving parts. Compared to other options, these
procedures minimized labor and expense while mitigating corrosion and prolonging service life.
